SEED – Social, Entrepreneurship & Equity Development – was formed in 2009 by Faraz Khan and Khusro Ansari as an umbrella company with a number of commercial ventures and social enterprises under its banner. It amalgamates all those companies that started 10 years ago by the duo. The core mandate at SEED is to build upon a sustainable business model that revolves around a central idea – creating social impact. At the same time the focus is to develop the entrepreneurial landscape of the country. SEED has a well-established presence in Pakistan, the UK, Sri Lanka and the Middle East with a diverse portfolio of businesses, which focus on building foreign trade relations, developing socially responsible media strategies, promoting emerging Pakistani artists abroad, book publishing, heritage preservation and socio-economic development.


Conceptualized in a small cafe at Zamzama, GC was co-founded in 2004 by Faraz Khan and Khusro Ansari and was the first of the many investments by the duo to come later. It specializes in integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), infra-structure development and media solutions while amalgamating conventional advertising methodology with the principles of CSR and community development, where the ethos of social responsibility is strategically linked with brand recall and mileage.


This venture was formed in 2008. It is headed by Faraz Khan and Khusro Ansari. The objective of this socio-economic platform was to showcase debuting Pakistani artists to the world. COI takes shape as the base for artists to display their work and for the connoisseur, an opportunity to experience the marvels that are created by these artists. COI serves as a socio-commercial platform for the creators and lovers of art alike and provides a foundation for the development and trade of art internationally.


Stimulus is a social development consulting firm offering innovative business solutions and services to the development community with a vision to enhance global socio-economic sustainability by stimulating the business of development and cultivating the social fabric. Formed in 2009, Stimulushas a clear mission that is guided by transparency, accountability, mutual respect and benefit for all stakeholders while remaining focused on the goal of socio-economic development. Members of the top management are Mehreen Shoaib, Faraz Khan, Khusro Ansari and Farhad Karamally.


The Food Company was formed in 2012 by Naheed Ansari, a renowned name in this field who has taken this art form to new levels, alongwith Faraz Khan and Khusro Ansari, two names synonymous with successful entrepreneurial ventures. . The Food Company is an industrial catering business and is currently providing high quality, hygienic and healthy food to the workforce to more than 1500 people on a daily basis.

Although undermined till a decade back, the food industry has come a long way and has managed to wrench itself free from the conventional mindset. Keeping that in mind, TFC was initiated with a very strong belief – that meals that are prepared with utmost care, hygiene and expertise, are nothing less than a master craft.


Created with a vision to provide an innovative platform for writers and showcase their work at a local and global level, FK Squared launched in 2010 by Faraz Khan, Farhad Karamally and Khusro Ansari. Shaista Ayesha is currently leading and managing the business. FK Squared works on various streams that include print publishing, Education & Literacy Drive and encouraging and promoting literary talents through this platform. However, it has established itself mainly as an e-publishing platform, providing accessibility and a value proposition to all those with creative expression.


Globus was formed in 2010 by Faraz Khan, Khusro Ansari and Ahmer Arif with the vision and intent to enhance Pakistan’s bilateral trade and investment with other countries by acting as an interface between government organisations and the private sector, working to facilitate trade and investment. It helps to promote and assist foreign investors who want to invest in Pakistan and vice versa.


Reimagining Pakistan is a heritage preservation initiative that originally started from Karachi as Reimagining Karachi now works across the country. It is an endeavour to preserve and restore the nation’s architectural and cultural heritage while rehabilitating old neighbourhoods and creating social development and empowerment programmes. The vision behind this initiative leads to the bigger picture which once implemented, will leave a legacy behind for many generations to come. Reimagining Pakistan, with its 360 degrees approach simultaneously works on documentation, conservation work, awareness programmes, sustainability programmes, empowerment programmes etc. It was initiated by Faraz Khan and Khusro Ansari in 2011 and is headed by Sadaf Mahmood.


Potential Enterprise Mapping Strategy (PEMS) began as a research project in 2012 looking to highlight the untapped potential of small-scale businesses in Karachi. A comprehensive survey based on a sample size of 400 enterprises, including cobblers, mobile vendors, fruit/vegetable sellers, butchers, mechanics, tailors etc. A database of 118 video interviews and 282 written transcripts was duly generated for analysis. PEMS’ evolved mission statement is to foster innovation and unique business models aimed at unlocking the full potential of micro-enterprises in Pakistan. PEMS is now conducting training programmes for grass-root entrepreneurs (GREs) in urban centres. It is headed by Faizan Quadri and co-managed by Shahmeer Ansari.


Rising Entrepreneur seeks to build enduring relationships between the next generation of entrepreneurs from India, Pakistan, and the Diaspora. It is the product of a cross-border partnership between SEED and Atlantic Council (USA). Rising Entrepreneur is the flagship project of this partnership and is a tournament-style business plan competition for early-stage startups in India and Pakistan. It aims to empower the next generation of entrepreneurs in both countries and support the continued development of positive bilateral relations.


SEED Incubation Centre (IC) was initiated with the objective to promote entrepreneurship and innovation as a mechanism for social impact. IC serves as a launch pad and support system which is meant to facilitate fresh graduates and startups in initiating their business ideas and turning them into viable business models. The offered services include: mentoring by experts, flexible leases, investment opportunities, and informative sessions on ‘Entrepreneurship’ by Guest Speakers. SEED Incubation Centre was launched in September 2013 by Faraz Khan, Khusro Ansari and Farhad Karamally; it is headed and managed by Shahmeer Ansari. IC is now expanding to urban centres of the country with a mission to create a large network both in urban and rural areas.


Gizelle Digital, initiated by Faraz Khan and Khusro Ansari and headed by Waqar Asghar, has emerged as a brand that realized the upcoming trends in cyberspace and capitalizes on a wide range of mediums to provide maximum benefits to both consumers and brands through customer engagement and cost optimization.

Despite the digital media and platforms taking the world by storm, there was a dearth of one-stop solutions by a local entity to improve operational efficiencies with a calculated mix of technology that brings phenomenally effective results. Gizelle Digital with its cutting edge ideas improves exposure and operational competence. It devises a methodical and creative system by mapping a digital path, reducing campaign execution timelines, increasing cross-sell and up-selling and maximizing marketing and communication mileage.


The Pakineur is an entrepreneurial magazine by SEED that focuses on this very important segment of our economy. This digital magazine brings to light the enterprising nature of our nation and shares the success stories and provides insights on issues and challenges that one faces in their entrepreneurial journey. It is in direct alignment with the core mandate at SEED – developing the entrepreneurial scenario and familiarizing and promoting social entrepreneurship as one of its most important avenues, as well as introducing and supporting other categories of entrepreneurship. At the same time it serves as an interactive platform for entrepreneurs and presents another perspective of Pakistan in international circles.
